Este disco todavia no a llegado a mis manos,pero espero tenerlo d´aqui poco,como siempre,Francho nos da una explicaciones fabulosas en su www.rockandblog.es/ tan solo apuntar una pequeña aclaracion,la version del "Duck Tail Cat" por Dan Virva existe desde hace unos años,exactamente desde 1979 y en vinilo,aqui la podeis escuchar http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-aOdqtukfXg

Se pueden escuchar tambien desde 1998 las dos versiones en el 10" King of the Ducktail Cats,la de Larry Nolen y como bien dice Francho diferente la una a la otra,pero no menos interessante http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=poB21IKSPSM

si joder, y también en el King of Ducktail Cats, ese lo tengo pero no recordaba esta versión, siempre me he quedado con la de Nolen. Bueno esto me pasa muy a menudo jajajaja demasiados discos para tan poco cerebro.

Que yo tampoco me acordaba!!!!!!!!!! pero tiro de "interné" para buscar informasión.Yo tengo menos cerebro aún y le debo 1000 neuronas a mi médico todavía: para ir a bolos o festivales me "infiltran" neuronas,pero como las ahogo con ron-cola,son incapaces de reproducirse y soy uno de los que contribuye a que la Seguridad Social se deficitaria.

Vinilo imprescindible, una de las mejores -si no la mejor- compras de este año, tanto por el material incluído -a nadie se le escapa que hay un puñado de temas muy pinchables- como por la calidad de la edición. Suena tópico, pero es que es así: un pedazo de disco que hay que tener.

Sawyer - Goin' Steppin', Tommy Blake - Koolit, Fred Crawford - You Gotta Wait, Betty Smith - Yeah Baby, Tex Cherry - Dirty Jim Blues Howdy boppin’ cats, here came the best from Texas … The one you had never dreamed on the old cool short living 10 inches format with strong vinyl and loud loud music from Texas. Let’s start with that great looking cover sleeve with that rare picture of Willie Jacobs, from The Strikes, giving autograph to long legged short shortbeauties in the Sherman Democrat News paper office and three fabulous label shots. Now let’s flip the wonder and enjoy the liner notes from the Redman and those stunning pictures/record labels. Music is made to be played so let’s get with it. First song is the ultra-rare fabulous killer boppin’ rockabilly “The Woman I Love” cut by Gene Terry and issued on Rock-It, a Starday custom pressing, before Gene goes to Goldband. Then 16 years old Gene was living in Port Arthur, Texas, and with his Kool Kats he bops like a mad man. Next song by Harold Casner, “That Is Why”, is an Elvisish boppin’ song with Link Davis on sax. A very rare issue, from 1959, on the tiny “Gulf” label. Third song is an alternate take of the classic Lin/Imperial “If You Can Rock Me” cut at Clifford Herring Studio in Fort Worth. That acetate came direct from Joe Leonard, LIN records owner but still left two unissued sides “Fat Man” and “ABE’s Boogie”. Anyway that’s an unexpected alternate take from that dance floor winner and all time classic. Glen Barber’s “Livin’ High and Wide” was issued on Starday 214 and it’s a pretty scarce side. That’s a superb boppin’ song with a lot of fiddle and a superb guitar/piano break. It was his second record for that label and earring him singing “I got a new kind of living” … you will have for sure too. Next song is another “Starday” related classic being the original version of “King of Ducktail Cats” better knows by Larry Nolen. Larry’s band was named The Bandit and here one of his band members, Dan Virva, just took his song and cut it unknown to him in 1956 with Joe Jacoby as vocalist. That song titled “Duck Tail Cat” issued on a record label that look much like a Starday custom pressing feature a rough rock-a-billy guitar not unlike Sonny Fisher. A very rare waxing issued on “Marathon” 5003 in 1956. To close that side came “Two Red Lips and Clinging Arms” by an unknown. That song never released on any format was a demo cut in Mineola (Texas) on Jack Rhodes Motel in 1956. A good old record had two sides so let flip the wax and enjoy “Goin’ Steppin’” by J.C. Sawyer issued on Dixie 692. Fabulous hot vocal on an ultimate rockin’ song issued in 1958. That cat may have cut only one song ‘cause the B-side of the original wax his by another aspiring singer but what a recording. Next song his by Dallas’ born Tommy Blake making his first recording in Shreveport, early 1956.Tommy Blake and The Rhythm Rebels were regular at the Louisiana Hayride but just found here them first recording deal with the Saturday Night Marshall Jamboree’s manager, A.T. Young, whose son Buddy was a local act. A very rare record with Sonny Trammel on steel guitar and Carl Adams on lead gtr. Next song brings us back to the Starday label with Fred Crawford’s “You Gotta Wait”. Corn Fed Fred is better known for “Rock Candy Rock” but that earliest and great side feature outstanding piano and fiddle. What could have been a world without chicks? Here comes Betty Smith with “Yeah Baby”, a strong boppin’ rocker with the support of Johnny Maxwell and the Ryhthmmasters issued on the rare Echo 584.Everything must have an end and a record is not an exception. Tex Cherry, with Jim Ross, closes that side introducing himself singing “Dirty Jim Blues”. A 1956 recording issued on the rare Mel-O-Tone label based in Houston.
